(Anonymous) 2020-01-19 12:51 am (UTC)(link)Ugh, I would not be a fan of that at all. War and military facts just get so repetitive and annoying. Unless it's a civilization who existed as only warriors, it's also a very inaccurate way to learn about the people living in that era. I'm much rather learn about what people built, rather than who they distroyed.

Some recommendations in case anyone cares...
Currently producing episodes:
Behind the Bastards (Deep dive into the worst people in the world and how they got there; depressing as hell — International)
Cabinet of Curiosities (Short episodes containing two stories about odd history — International with a focus on the West)
Crimetown (True crime podcast about political corruption. Loooooved the season about Providence, RI. Just about to start the Detroit season — 20th century U.S.)
The Dollop (Comedy podcast about wild and weird American history where one comedian tells a well-researched story, while the other comedian who didn't pay attention in school reacts. It's hilarious. — mostly U.S., with occasional forays into other countries)
The Memory Palace (This won't be everyone's cuppa. Bite-sized episodes with an eclectic focus.)
Noble Blood (Relatively new podcast about royalty's bloody history — so far focusing on Europe)
Remarkable Providences (Relatively new podcast about the Salem witch trials engagingly told — colonial U.S./New England history)
Throughline (NPR history podcast that looks at the roots of some of what we're seeing in modern times — mostly U.S.)
Unobsured (Loved the first season about the Salem witch trials. The second season about the U.S. spiritualist movement was a little meh — U.S.)
Unspooled (Technically about the AFI Top 100 movies list, but a lot of history tucked in with the movie discussions — 20th century U.S.)
You're Wrong About (Puts pop culture and political events of the later 20th century in their historical context. Strips away some myths and misconceptions around them — 20th century U.S.)
Seems to be no longer producing new episodes:
The Dollop — England (From the guys who brought you The Dollop. Ten episodes about weird British history — U.K.)
History of Witchcraft (History of witch hunts in medieval Europe — medieval European)
Lost at the Smithsonian (Pop culture history using artifacts stored at the Smithsonian. Only 11 episodes — 20th century U.S.)
More Perfect (History of the U.S. Supreme Court and key court cases — U.S.)
You Must Remember This (Hollywood history. — 20th century U.S.)

I'm not sure the beauty industry angle is going to be my cuppa.

Buuuut (looks at above list), as you can see I have a problem already. I'll bookmark it and give it a shot.
*hangs head*
I might be a bit of an addict.
