As a fan of the old games, I still have mixed feelings about this reboot in general. The original ones were supposed to be silly and campy, and I like that over the serious tone, extreme violence, and edge of the reboot. But I think I'm in the minority there and most wanted a something they could take more seriously.

Also, Lara was always this mature, independent woman, and that was something I liked about her. Taking away her age and experience so we can go through an origin story just felt...meh to me personally.

And yeah, I do miss her braid.

I've played pretty much every Tomb Raider from ps1 to ps4. They have a different atmosphere but I enjoyed both classic and reboot games.

The only reboot game I'm iffy on is the first one because it seemed gratuitously violent/gory. Something that has always been a part of TR but felt really over the top in this one more than the others.

Rise of Tomb Raider and Shadow of Tomb Raider however were lots of fun. I love the crafting feature and being able to use a bow and arrow. I also liked that Lara can actually interact with people and do sidequests instead of being stuck in tombs the entire game. Angel of Darkness was my favorite of the ps2 era for the same reason.

Yeah, the one thing I really liked about OG Lara was her age. She was 31 or 32 as I recall from the little intro booklet that came with the first game box? There are plenty of beautiful 17 and 18 year old heroines running around. Lara had a maturity and assurance to her that made her seem so accomplished and confident. It makes me sad to think that 30 is considered too old to be relatable.
