you know, I don't think so. most antagonist-protagonist, even hero-villain ships don't involve murder. like even harry-draco didn't involve murder. but the ones that do involve murder have very enthusiastic fans which makes me interesting in what is compelling about getting over that type of history.

Yeah, the murder ship for Harry Potter was Snarry, even if that was murder by proxy. Still, that leaves you with most of the comic book hero/villain ships (plus a not insignificant number of the comic book hero/hero and villain/villain ships, since if the series runs long enough just about everyone has tried to kill just about everyone else at least once). I guess it would also depend on what you count as "trying to murder them." Does it have to be personal, or does "I want to murder everyone, and you're part of that" count? Then there's the "I don't necessarily want to murder you, but I will if I have to" ships and the "I don't plan on murdering you, but I'm also a pretty high-ranking member of Team Wants To Murder You" ships.

It's a complicated subject.

It's erotic.

I def am only talking about the "you tried to murder me, a person who is not trying to murder you" dynamic. what I get from she-ra is that the "good" guys are defensive and trying to stop ~bad~ but are not trying to murder people. I think "I'm okay with killing you" being a sincere belief also applying (although "I'm okay with killing you" being textually insincere is also a fav of mine and doesn't apply to what I'm saying). Any acted upon sincere desire and action to kill is very "huh?" as a ship to me (and that counts for any "i learned you helped try to kill me" tho there is more nuance available there as you said).

the murdership in HP was harry/voldemort, with the murderbyproxy harry/tom riddle, but like, that wasn't popular popular and was mostly about deliberately exploring darkness which is different i feel. There's a weirdly significant amount of "hermione is a secret pureblood who marries a death eater" which is equally incomprehensible to me.

Yes, the Horde are the 'aggressors' in the conflict, but Horde soldiers still die at the hands of the Princesses and their forces.

You must be living under a rock. Rival shipping and enemy/hero shipping is super popular across every fandom.

hmm, i think if you'll read back what I wrote you'll see my problem is murder(eta: one-sided) and not enemy/hero or rival shipping, which i like and is great, when they don't involve murder, which they mostly don't.
