I mean, you can definitely do courtly love without the vials of blood and such. I tend to think more of, like... well, okay, I do also sometimes think about the fruit that's been carried around in an underarm all day and then given, but MOSTLY I think of the less physically intimate token exchange. A handkerchief carries certain connotations, as it might dry your ladies tears or dab at her brow in the heat, but on the whole, a gifted handkerchief is a piece of cloth that's probably been washed of any serious grossness before being granted to an ardent lover. And the composing of poems and letters...

Part of what I love about courtly love is the lack of certain bodily fluids that come with the less sexless kinds of love, tbh. So I certainly respect your feelings on the bodily fluids, that's fair.

I do like a good love letter/poem/song, so you're totally on about that. but i also think those require the kind of skill that's not universal. handkerchief and book giving with inscriptions and sweet liner notes is really universal tho, so I can understand focusing on that!
