107. See, I wouldn't file that so much under "judging people by what they read" as "judging people by whether or not they look up to and idolize fictional douchebags." However, it probably IS possible to love those books and think they contain inspiring, life-changing, human things while still being able to pinpoint the crap bits and discard them as out of line, so unless they fall into the last bit, I wouldn't be so quick to jump to the conclusion. I honestly don't see the point of remaking EVERYTHING OMG (why are foreign films "inaccessable" just because they're foreign? not all of us have this mysterious distaste of all entertainment from other countries!), but remakes CAN be done well. I just cross my fingers and hope they do the best they can, while still preparing for the worst and reassuring myself that at least the originals will still exist in their awesome forms. |D

not!secret: Because in fic and art, incest is being portrayed in its most idealistic light: between two people who truly do love each other, who choose to have an equal, balanced, healthy relationship with each other, who happen to be related. In that case, no molestation or rape or power-play is involved (though of course I'm not speaking across the board for all incest ships -- just the "sweet, wholesome" ones you're mentioning). It's not the same as it usually happens in real life, so liking the fictional version is a completely different story than that sort of thing.

Ah, sorry, I didn't actually mean to address that to the OP -- I just meant in general. It makes me sad that other people would seriously judge her because of that... it's a reasonable worry, but it shouldn't have to be? That sort of thing. Sorry for confusion on that, I should have been more clear.
