It definitely read as very, very intentional. Personally I can't really get into it - not for any reason to do with 13 specifically, I'm just very much not into Master/Doctor as a ship, and also I'm not sure this version of the Master reads as actually dom-y to me. But if it was other characters I'd love it.

Honestly, I'm not sure we're supposed to read the Master as actually dom-y. He's always gotten a kick out of the "say my name" routine, but when Thirteen does it, and even while she's kneeling, she has kind of an eye-rolly "oh brother, not this again" expression.

And once she is on her knees...the Master almost immediately kneels down right next to her, so they can talk face-to-face. That's what he really wanted. The order-giving bit was just some showboating he had to get through first.

NAYRT But I really like that look she gave him when he told her to kneel and then when he told her to say his name. She looked so irritated.
