129. I've only read The Naked Sun so maybe I'm missing stuff, but I don't see it.

131. I will never understand Soul Eater fandom's obsession with deciding definitively what's in between Chrona's legs. Canon deliberately establishes Chrona as being ambiguous; if you're IC, and not writing porn (where it would be important), I'm not sure what difference it makes.

I don't put much importance on figuring out what Chrona's true gender is, to be quite honest. The whole ambiguity of it is something you usually don't see in a series. I mean, you get a little beating around the bush sometimes until it's finally realized that "Oh my god, that girly girl is actually a girly guy!" or "That butch guy is actually a butch girl!". But for a series to actually -never answer that question- and leave it up to interpretation by the fans... I find that to be awesome.

What always frustrates me is when people go about making statements about Chrona's gender as if they were rock-solid fact. I don't know if Chrona is a guy or a girl. I'm comfortable thinking of Chrona as a girl, not a guy, but I would never say that Chrona -is in fact a girl-. I don't know that, and I highly doubt anyone else does except for Atsushi Okubo. We haven't been given any actual evidence for Chrona's "true gender" as of yet. So for people to just go off spouting that Chrona is a guy or Chrona is a girl (and I hear a lot of the "Chrona is a guy" argument, which gets on my nerves the most for various reasons)... it's just very tiring.

Yeah, I wasn't really referring to you in specific. It just bugs me on an irratioanl, 'whyt he hell would you even bother' level when I see fic or fanart labeled Maka/boy!chrona or Maka/girl!Chrona, etc. Unless there's touching going on in the no-no zone, I don't understand the need to specify.

In Japanese, they don't have to use gendered pronouns, and in Crona's case, they don't. Crona's gender isn't explicitly stated or even implied in the original Japanese. If you're using English subs or scanlations, the translators had to make a best guess because English only has gendered pronouns for people.

I mean, you could try to argue that Crona wears something that looks like a dress, or that Crona uses "boku," a Japanese pronoun normally used by boys, but in the end, there's no hard evidence.

It's really not until Robots of Dawn that the subtext really starts jumping out at you.

131. I totally agree. I roleplay it and while using "it" in a third person or first person/*asterisk rp* setting can be quite confusing and awkward, it's well worth it. I won't lie and tell you that I haven't decided on it's gender (if it has one) in my mind, but I like Chrona best when you haven't a clue what it is.
It's not like Chrona has ever once made an effort to correct anyone on whatever it was addressed as (because I do remember Soul calling it a "she") in canon, anyway.
