I wish there would be separate groups for different kinds of engagements. But as annoying as it gets at times, I do like that there is a bit of that element in Doctor Who fandom sometimes, that sort of passionate, uncompromising engagement and commitment to nerdery, the little bit of Lawrence Miles in all of us. You have to keep it in proportion though.

I can accept Lawrence Miles because he tends to (most of the time) just stick to his corner of rage. His episode take-downs during the RTD and Moffat eras were fairly amusing if you caught them on time.

You're right about the passion not necessarily being a bad thing but I get why the people who are currently happy might be bummed out if they can't have a positive conversation without being confronted by what feels like a wall of capslock.

That's definitely how I felt during the Moffat era, and I would hate for anyone to have to go through that all over again. It's a fresh start with Thirteen--let's LET it be a fresh start.
