When I was a kid there was a local TV channel that showed 4 or 5 episodes of Dragon Ball (and DBZ, and later on GT) each day, and when they were done with the series they'd just start it all over again. I must have watched every single episode about a dozen times at least, and still in my mind the characterizations, relationships and voices are those of the abridged series.

Fun fact: the next show after Dragon Ball was always The Nanny, and the voice actor who dubbed adult Goku also dubbed Mr. Sheffield, so if I wasn't paying too much attention sometimes it seemed as if Goku was suddenly ranting about Andrew Lloyd Webber for no adequate reason.
