When I actually started getting into kpop I was honestly horrified by learning just how hard these companies drive idols into the ground. The unhealthy restrictive diets, the constant supervision that’s more like surveillance, the level of control they use to manipulate their lives, the hours and hours of nonstop overwork...

Sometimes I’ll see a video or a gif when an idol is very clearly out of it and it just makes me sad.

ayrt

I remember when Block B were being extorted by their manager. They weren't getting paid despite their global hits, and the manager would continuously harass the member's parents for more money. P.O. nearly had a mental breakdown, and Zico was ridiculed for saying he had less than fuck bucks in his pocket at a concert. I'm happy they're still together, and making great music, but I can't imagine the horror they went through in all of that.

The way I see it, is that the k-pop groups are no different than the outbreak of pop boy/girl bands we saw from the 90's. Only with the technology we have today they aren't allowed a private life, are moulded into whatever caricature the label want's them to be, and told never to break that character. People are killing themselves because of this, but they just don' stop.

people should watch Show them what Were made of. Americans were doing this shit to the Backstreet Boys in the 90s.
