I really dislike baby Groot too, it's so obvious the character was designed by someone with no idea how cuteness works or what the proportions should be.

Baby Groot just doesn't ping my kawaii senses, and speaking from someone who would be late for her own funeral if there were stray cats that needed petting. I have an aggressive mother instinct and love smol cute things. But Groot does nothing for me, at all. I even found the character a little irritating because of how forced it felt.

Then again, I didn't have any opinions on adult Groot, either. I did, however, like the raccoon.

Yeah, I liked adult Groot well enough, but I find the whole baby/kid/teen Groot shtick annoying, not cute. It just feels like the writer(s) are super amused by him and think he's way cuter and funnier than he actually is.

I definitely do find Baby Yoda cute, and I like him a lot. I could see the writers getting to a point where they milk his cuteness too hard and it becomes annoying, but so far they haven't hit that point for me. Plus he's just a lot cuter looking than baby Groot, IMO.

His face by itself isn't the most adorable. But with the tiny stick body, I think he was even more adorable than baby Yoda.

I found Yoda incredibly annoying, so have zero interest in 'baby Yoda', who isn't, apparently, even Yoda? No clue.

He's the same species as Yoda. But the SW PTB have never named the species so....

I thought i read somewhere that someone said the show runners? writers? someone? said that he/she/them/it/whatever isn't actually a 'baby Yoda' but just another of Yoda's species.

Everything about how he's written suggests he is, developmentally, in his toddler years. But Mando is also told that Baby Yoda is 50 years old at the start of the series.

We only know that he's 50 years old and from the same species. Given that Yoda himself was over 900 during the original trilogy, a 50 year old being a baby makes sense. But we don't know for sure.

that's what anon is saying. that because they never named the species, people are just calling this kid baby yoda, because while he is a baby, and isn't actually yoda, they don't have any other name than yoda to use for his kind. yoda is 100% a force ghost at this time.

He's from the same species as Yoda (and Yaddle), a species that is apparently mysterious enough not to even be named, but in the show they only call him "The Child". People know he's not Yoda, since The Mandolorian is not a prequel, but set 9ABY*, but since he looks like Yoda would as a baby, "Baby Yoda" was an apt description and The Powers That Be haven't given him an actual name, that's the name fandom adopted.

I'm the opposite. Baby Yoda looks like an old man with baby eyes. The lines under his eyes and around his mouth? He's going to start grumping about kids these days with his first words.

Not that I'm a particularly big Groot fan either (I'm not all that into MCU).

I don't think I would've thought baby Yoda was cute from still images. But in the show, he is so infant-like (early toddler?), it's the mannerisms and little cooing that really make him adorable.

Same. Once you see him be himself, he's absolutely adorable. but just from pictures, he's a bit cute but also pretty weird looking.

The reverse is true for me. I would set baby yoda aflame to keep Groot (at any age) safe and warm. i dont get the love for it at all.
