(Anonymous) 2020-01-31 01:26 pm (UTC)(link)I am in favor of adapting art for modern audiences in principle, though, and I love interesting new interpretations of classics. Duke Ellington's Nutcracker or Emerson, Lake & Palmer's Pictures at an Exhibition, for example. Hell, Young Person's Guide to the Orchestra or the shitpost that is Carnival of the Animals would not exist without it! My problem is purely with that specific style of adaptation: I generally don't like music that sounds like it was made on the computer. It always sounds cheap and gimmicky to my ears.
Are there any examples of pop- or epic-ified classics that you thought turned out well? I'm sure there must be, and I know I must have some that I like, I just can't think of any right now. :/ If you have some, please share! :D

Do you write music arrangements?
