105. I am so with you on that secret. I told my husband and my best friend about my interest in slash early on, and they both thought it was weird and stupid. And then they outed me to other people. It's made me really closeted about much of my fannish activities, which I hate, because fandom in general and slash in specific is such a big part of my life.

Which was not intended as discouragement. I hope you do tell your friends someday, and I hope they're totally fine with it. :o)

2. That was a really crappy thing for them to have done. But it's also why I'm now very quiet about my online activities. I wasn't at first and people thought I was nuts. One person even stopped returning my calls; to be honest, that might not have anything to do with fandom but they stopped talking to me right after I told them about my involvement fandom. And the stuff I'm into is really tame.

I'm really sorry that happened to you and hope you can find someone offline to talk to about fandom.
