The fic for them IS pretty cringey. I always side-eyed anything that made Hiei OOC just because he caught feelings, for instance.

I randomly started reading a bunch of them last year or so, and some definitely do suffer from the 'written from that era' type of writing. It didn't bother me too much since I was never /that/ into the fandom, and I've been reading through a lot of older fic's lately which has me getting used to that style of writing again.
