I know in the classic series it wasn't possible for obvious reasons but I'd be amazed if the modern series didn't take the opportunity at some point to have more multi-Master stories.

It's something the television series hasn't been able to do before and now there's three (four if you include the Professor Yana character) living actors around with the possibility of more if you want! I mean, the regeneration limit basically doesn't exist anymore so there could be loads more Doctors and Masters out there.

The scenes with Missy and Simm!Master in Twelve's last couple episodes were WONDERFUL.

Indeed! I'd actually love to see the new Master with those two as well.

And I know people are sad about the apparent undoing or erasure of Missy's arc (I'm a little sad too) but if time-travel shenanigans are involved you can visit a point in her timeline and Simm!Master's timeline where it happens before that final Missy story and just handwave it as forgotten/blocked from their memories. It's not like the show hasn't done that to The Doctor several times!

That's true!

I actually heard a theory recently about both the Master and the Doctor and the current mystery that would explain the weirdness without erasing character arcs, so I'm hoping that's correct.

What's the theory???

Spoilers for latest episode if that's your thing

That both the O-Master and the Ruth-Doctor are clones, possibly made for the war effort, and that this discovery is linked with the Timeless Child and why the O-Master nuked the planet.
