Re: Good videogames to practice Japanese?

Thanks for the reply! I'd say I'm a lazy N3 (which is a level I've been at for many years) and I've been pushing myself to get toward N2, but lack kanji motivation. I figured a game would be a nice way to push my memory, because flashcards do nothing for me.

I actually really like fantasy so I'm happy to go for typical JRPGs, I just need them to be forgiving with speaking pace and preferably not so technically heavy that understanding how to play is overwhelming.

I played Let's Go Eevee in Japanese, which was kind of fun. I had the most trouble though with move names, since they were all weird shit, and since the plot doesn't matter and I already know how to play Pokemon I think I probably just skipped through a bunch of dialogue.

I've been wanting to see what Persona is all about so maybe that's a good place to start. Can't seem to find it on Steam though. :(

I don't know if you have a DS or 3DS but I played Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky in German to practice my German and had a good time with it, but I'd already played it in English. (Of course German and Japanese are very different and the game was originally in Japanese! But still, it worked out for me as someone with very limited German, for whatever that's worth.) I think you could get it in Japanese without too much trouble and since it's not a 3DS game it will work in any DS or 3DS. I'm also thinking of playing the new Pokemon Mystery Dungeon remake in German and it looks like there are ways to get that in Japanese.
