That wasn't the vibe I got from it at all. Not even 1%

Is that so...

I don't know what this is (will IMDB in a second) but I have to giggle at the title. Medical Police just sounds so weirdly generic.

It's supposed to be! It's a satirical parody type show

I don’t think Medical Police is the humor-with-a-heart show that Brooklyn 99 is, though. The vibe is more straight procedural parody, except everyone is sort of blithely terrible at what they do, and the reason for this pairing is just they’re the leads - likability in terms of actually having empathy/sympathy for the characters is far, far down the list of the show’s priorities.

OP

That's exactly the point: it tries too hard to be Brooklyn 99 with DOCTORS and it just fails because they haven't got the mix of comedic elements down right. Like, there are scenes where the show clearly is just milking the dramatic tension to the point where it's absurdly stupid.

Adding in the "man and woman leads HAVE TO GET TOGETHER" is just the icing on the stupid cake here.

ayrt - The point I was trying to make is a different one - MP really isn't trying to be Brooklyn 99 in humor style or characterization. It's a spin-off from an Adult Swim series that came out 3 years before B99, and it's pretty much the same now as it was before.

Either way, the leads getting together is just one of the many, many procedural tropes the original series and MP parodies to high heaven.
It's not just outsize the way B99 is, it's farce. I'd put it much closer to Police Squad/Naked Gun movies in sensibility than B99.

(None of this is to say you have to find it funny, though!)
