Were all those disclaimers really necessary, OP?

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 12:01 am (UTC)(link)
What's necessary? Presumably they're all things that OP believes.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 12:25 am (UTC)(link)
OP obviously wanted them there, and personally I dig that. I like establishing the context for my opinions. And frankly, there is nothing wrong with disclaiming a bit about your problematic ships if that's what makes you comfortable.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 12:35 am (UTC)(link)
OP clearly thought they were, and I don't blame them. There are people who ship similar pairings who romanticize the issues and I could see wanting to differentiate from them if just for the sake of clarity.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 12:55 am (UTC)(link)
I don’t it was either.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 01:06 am (UTC)(link)
Yes, because if you like anything that's ~problematic~ in any way, shape, or form, you'll be lectured on how horrible it is, how horrible you are, how wrong and detrimental to society what you like is, and how you're going to hell for being literally worse than Hitler.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 02:33 am (UTC)(link)
Yeah, this. Unfortunately it's a necessary cover-your-ass measure now or else you get a bunch of jumped-up little cops pouncing on you. (It doesn't really prevent them, but at least you've got your pre-emptive apologizing in.)

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 04:09 am (UTC)(link)
This doesn't seem like an exaggeration to me at all

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 04:19 am (UTC)(link)
It isn't. Have you seen fandom lately?

We're talking about Fandom Secrets reaction, and I think I've seen more posts complaining about lecturing than lecturing, here.

Jesus Christ, tone down the victim complex. You're not oppressed, you whiny baby.

"People overreact to my fictional tastes and it's annoying" does not mean "I'm oppressed." Calm down with the assumption that everything is about oppression.

Has someone seriously told you that you're literally worse than Hitler?

And why are you dismissing the possibility that OP is sincere, anyway?

Re: DA

I've been told I was worse than Hitler! But not because I have unusual kinks. And to be fair, I kind of deserved it. I had a burning hatred for shitty fanfiction when I was much younger and believed at the time it shouldn't be mixed with fic that didn't suck.

ppl whining like the op of that comment absolutely come off like they think they're oppressed for their tastes, and it's annoying as shit. so yeah, tone down the victim complex.

(Anonymous) 2020-02-07 01:24 am (UTC)(link)
You're not missing anything, OP. He looked great and had a cool outfit and all that, but the acting was so uninspired. There was nothing sinister or compelling about him, just a ranting villain. He showed no interest in Jasmine, other than demanding her hand in marriage.

I was disappointed.

yeah, i loved the movie in general and everyone else's performances were really good, but i found jafar pretty lacking.
