IA, but it's also a little annoying bc it means that sometimes arguments go on longer than is really good for us

Who's "us" in this scenario? Assuming that consenting adults are participating by choice in the arguments and that adults who do not consent to participate aren't forced to do so, who cares? Every day there are thousands of fandom arguments taking place on the internet. You can choose to stay out of them if you don't want to join in. I do.

People make choices that are bad for them all the time, even adults

Well, yeah. I'm not sure it's anyone's job to save other people from their bad choices, especially when there seems to be a fine line between "bad for them" and "bad because I don't like the choices in question".

Just... don't participate? Like if someone has a gun to your head, blink three times and we'll call the police but otherwise... just... do... something else maybe?

For Pete's sake.

I'm not trying to save anyone from their own choices. I think they're often not good choices, including for myself - clearly, there's no benefit to me continuing this conversation, and here I am. But it is my opinion that they're bad choices, and that's why I said it. But that's all I did - remark on it.
