That's what I do for the most part but it's mostly that I've been starting to get burnt out on this fandom and would prefer to move on but I don't want to be rude to my friend because I was the one who kept bringing it up back in the day.

I get wanting to be cool and understanding about peoples' new fandom enthusiasm because you were once in their shoes, but if you're getting burned out... just move on. You're not obligated to stick around in a fandom you're no longer into just out of a sense of duty. Let your friend find other enthusiastic new fans to squee with, you'll both enjoy the experience more.

Well, OP, to me here's enough butthurt coming through your secret to make me think that, deep down, your need to move on is motivated at least a little by a desire to punish your friend for not doing the fandom your way.

Nah not really but thanks for playing. Then again, using the word butthurt makes it quite obvious just what kind of person you are.

Well that's fine, it's not like you can be into something forever, especially since the show and the book are very different in a lot of areas. Maybe just hint around that you're just not that interested in it anymore, or not fond of the show in general, it has been a few years after all. If you still feel bad, you could still listen to them rave about it from time to time, but let them know that you don't have much feelings about it anymore?
