In all seriousness, he is my fave character in that show - I used to cheer when he came on. Boring, my ass.

132. I love Castiel, he got me watching SPN again, but I also don't think the character would have as big a fanbase if he were a female instead male. But I do want to see a female angel at some point, preferably played by an older woman.

This sentence caught my eye and I did a double-take because I really thought it was just me wanting this! I don't know why, but someone like the actress who plays Claire Meade on Ugly Betty or IDK, I just was imagining a female angel appearing and she was older, rather than young. It just strikes me more? IDK IDK

Yes, totally. I just don't see a younger woman as having the sort of presence you want from an Angel.

That, and I really want more older women on tv just in general.

Honestly, I think "older woman" is key. If Castiel were cast as a woman would he have been some 20-something girl who looked like a potential love interest but didn't have the presence to pull the role off the way this actor does? I think that's the problem. The body being possessed does effect the way the character comes across and the dynamic with the other actors. There's probably plenty of actresses out there who could do just as much justice to the role but would not ever have been considered.
