101 - ME TOO. Well a little less after they changed the voice, the new one sucks so I stopped watching. But yeah, still love him.

Yeah, but what can you expect from a show with a mostly female audience? If it were switched and SPN viewers were mostly male, they wouldn't get excited over new hot guys joining the show either. But yes, I agree. :)

But we're all humorless "feminists" (what's with the air quotes?) if we point that out and get irritated by it.

Honestly I try to stay away from any "feminist" arguments like that in SPN, because people just bitch and whine and argue and it always ends with flocking journals.

But it's true - I have no "favorite guest stars" and even I know that if Castiel was a girl, this season would already be in the toilet with people. It would be all bitching and whining that all these girls were taking screen time from the boys.

No, seriously. What's with the airquotes? How is it not feminist to go "whoa, way to have a double standard, people"?

Yeah, I loved the "feminist" -- umm, is the op calling into question their feminist credentials? Or is the op just a moron who thinks that quotes add emphasis?

I'm a feminist, and yeah, Castiel is great, and Hell Yeah, many in fandom would have hated the character if it was played by a woman. I used to somewhat think this was because women threatened the Sam/Dean ship, but given the enthusiastic production and reception of Dean/Castiel fics, I no longer have that somewhat less depressing explanation to fall back on.
