It's been there since as long as I've had a Kindle, and I got mine in 2014. I personally don't know *any* serious readers who wants an estimate of how long they will take to read a chapter, never mind the entire book so I have no idea why it's there!

Unless it's for the people who obsess over their excessive Goodreads target and refuse to read longer books in case it harms their progress in the books they're clearly skimming at best anyway. Idk.
