Yes!!!! What I love most about the idea of Legolas/Gimli is how different they are aesthetically. The fandom loves to headcanon that Gimli is considered a super attractive dwarf whereas Legolas is actually considered about average attractiveness-wise for an elf.

But then again, don't get me started on how Kili does not in any way look like a dwarf. Fili either. Thorin is a little closer but still not quite right. They really thought that we wouldn't be able to root for heroes who weren't traditionally attractive and who looked like dwarves. That's selling the audience short. I think it would have made it more powerful if the characters had been more believable. Plus, Bilbo was well-loved and he's not exactly conventionally attractive.
