I'm sorry, OP. But I confess I giggled a bit about this predicament. In principle I'm anti-monarchy myself but I still love learning about it in a historical context and I don't mind it in fiction.

Hard same. I just have no wish to watch some blue blood royal offspring's quest for power. Let Vetinari rule the country. At least a protagonist shouldn't start a civil war.

I don't agree, but at the same time, fucking hell yeah

Anti-any kind of dictatorship in real life. But in fiction? I love monarchies.

I wouldn’t mind if it leaned more into “this bloodline’s special!” while also showing that they’re benefiting from tutors and growing up rubbing elbows with powerful people and being literate etc etc.

I hate "chosen bloodline" types of stories because they tend to often come down to "need to make babies to continue the precious line" and since I prefer gay ships and avoid all things to do with pregnancy that usually means it's not something I'd enjoy (except if it's just used ty o subvert tropes).

Oh, not me, I love a fantasy magic monarchy.

Does it count as a monarchy when it's the same three people being reborn? I guess Zelda is always a princess but Link is usually some nobody farmboy.
