What are some hobbies you wish you had or could learn? How about skills you wish you could learn or knew?

I wish I knew how to fence because I've always been interested in swords and wanted to learn how, but I'm also a klutz so it is a bad idea.

I wish I had language skills because I really want to be Spanish fluent and I'd even love to learn other languages too. But it is really difficult for me to learn another language even when I work hard at it.

I really want to learn to play guitar, but good guitars are expensive and so are lessons and I don’t really have a lot of money or free time.

Oh, that would be cool. I love guitar music. I hope you can learn someday. It is never too late, though. My dad is 68 and just started taking piano lessons last week.

I bought a semi decent Jasmine beginner's guitar on Amazon (I know... shame, shame) for under 100 USD. I don't have the money for "official" lessons, but there's a dude who breaks things down for beginners in YT videos.

I was doing it somewhat at the beginning of the year but kind of let things slide. I'm psyching myself up to get used to the fingertip pain and callouses, lol.

True. Those are such cool skills too. I love watching Forged in Fire with my dad. I'm mostly in it for the weapons while he's there for the forging.

Programing. Just because there is some stuff I want to create. Also, writing because I have so many ideas but suck at creative writing.

Ooo, that would be fun. I'm okay with big picture ideas, but I'm not so good with details. I'd be awful with programming which is all about the little tiny details.

Sewing. I have NO patience and NO attention to detail.

My mother is a great sewer. She tried to get me into sewing as a kid. My sister liked it. I couldn't even handle cross-stitching. NO patience or attention to detail either. Got so bored with it.

I can sometimes make a button stay on.

Sometimes.

I'm fat, which mean big fingers. And part of my learning disabilities are difficulties with my hands, I just have a really hard time doing anything that involves small things like that. Thread and needles are more than I can handle.

Oh man, yeah, hand issues would definitely put the kibosh on sewing. I played violin for fifteen years, so I have the dexterity! And yet, and yet...

I get the thing that feels just out of reach too. That's Spanish for me. I keep trying and trying. I want to be fluent, damn it.

Sewing is 99% patience.

hand sewing or constructive machine sewing? I hate hand sewing, it's a pain in the ass and even professionally I do everything my power to use the machine until there is absolutely no other choice.

there is still a fair amount of patience involved, but as sewing machines are very hard to throw against a wall, it's much easier to mitigate stress.

I know what you mean. I hate shopping for clothes and it would be super convenient if I could make my own.

Playing piano, knitting, painting/drawing, gardening.

I used to know the basics of knitting, and I would love to get back into the habit. It's both fun and relaxing, the click of the needles is such a nice sound.

Sign Language is always something I've wanted to learn. I always talk with my hands and I have trouble phrasing things and I think it would be both educational and helpful even in casual conversation.
Also learning French, Italian, and Japanese. Though I have a hard enough time with English, and I've been learning on and off for years with little success.

Calligraphy, I love old style writing, it's so beautiful.

I'm a pretty good drawer, mostly faces, I would love to learn to shade/colour and do full bodies/scenes.

I'll second fencing. Swords are great, and the movements are both graceful and artistic.

Definitely wish I had the language skills too. Never got taught a language in a way it stuck.

I'd love to master musical instruments or at least be somewhat competent. I know it takes practice but some days I feel like I just am not inclined to be a "true" musician.

I wish I could make friends with the right people, or at least meet the right people I need to unfuck my life and get to where I need to go. Hell, I'd just like to have some people on my side who aren't easily fooled by assholes.
