Their romance in general does not work for me.

She tricked and controlled him into beating up people she didn't like and would have gotten him executed for that if not for the wishes she didn't know were his. He reacted by... tying their destinies together, and then they fell into bed. Even though Geralt had been unmoved by her during the bath scene pictured in the secret, and Yennefer had presumably only shown interest to lure him into her trap. The show gave no basis for either passion or tenderness between them. On the mountain, they made out in the middle of a fight, wtf, that's not romantic, it's just plain stupid and a huge pet peeve of mine and whenever characters do it I want them to get injured because they deserve it.

And on a purely shallow level, Cavill as Geralt to me looks older than the actor's mid-thirties, very much a middle-aged man, whereas Chalotra as Yennefer looks barely legal, or like those those girls in American shows that are played by actresses in their twenties but meant to be teenagers. I know both characters are actually a lot older, but the visual of grown-ass man and woman-I-have-been-conditioned-to-consider-teenaged is not a good look imo.

Tbh, their romance has always worked mostly in the books' author's head (he would almost convince me in some places, but most of the time it was a giant nope). Maybe they will fix some of it in later seasons. They did change some stuff already, so why not.

Well the casting is kind accurate. Gerald it supposed to be a dirty old man while Jennifer is glamoured into looking like a beautiful young woman.
