In my experience, 98% of the time when whole sentences in a foreign language are used in a fic they don't add anything to the plot or narrative that "they said something I didn't understand" wouldn't. (But I'm slightly more annoyed ta this trend than I used to be before I had my Teen-Wolf-obsessed period, because I'm Polish and the amount of people who attempted to use google translate to insert some random Polish sentence into Stiles' mouth was too big and almost all of it was awful, even when it was a single world, because English speakers don't understand how important inflection is in many languages :()
