This is annoying whether it's something easily translatable in Japanese in anime fandoms or French in Miraculous fics. But the worst is when it's done in actually published novels - I once read Julian May's Galactic Milieu series and one of the point-of-view characters speaks an awful lot of some version of French spoken in New Hampshire. At the time there was no Google translate so I hadn't the foggiest what was being said. I still mean to re-read those books now I can hover my phone over the sentence and finally understand WTF Uncle Rogi and his many and various Francophone relatives were saying!
