I don't think it really makes sense to look solely at diversity as the only criterion here. And I think on policies, Bernie clearly has the most left, progressive credentials. I support Warren myself, but I can understand why other left Democrats prefer Sanders over her or Castro (who is a lightweight, comparatively, in terms of political experience) - let alone candidates like Harris (a career prosecutor with a very shaky commitment to health care reform) or Cory Booker (an outspoken defender of private equity). It's more striking if anything that centrist Democrats would prefer candidates like Biden, Bloomberg and Buttigieg over Harris and Booker, who seem more aligned with their beliefs than with the beliefs of left democrats.

I think, in an ideal world, yes, the standard bearer for democratic socialism in the presidential race wouldn't be Bernie Sanders. But the reality is that he is, and that's not his supporters' fault.

Not solely, of course not. But it is a factor, and no one seems to be discussing it. Personally, I'd say policy-wise Warren and Sanders are neck and neck. They're about the same really, if anything Warren does better on recognizing racial and other factors that implicate the class issues Sanders is all about. The fact that she's a woman just puts her over the top for me.

I just don't get why no one is discussing it. I don't think it should be the deciding factor. But it isn't being mentioned at all.

You keep saying people should talk about it. Who do you expect to talk about it, given the state of the race and the fact that every major POC candidate has now dropped out? Sanders supporters have made it clear what their priorities are. The B-Democrat supporters aren't going to want to bring up the obvious question of why they didn't support POC candidates when they were in the race. And any voter who could be moved by supporting a woman probably already is. I'm just not sure what you're asking for here.

And let me reiterate, I support Warren. But I get why many left Democrats don't - Warren identifies as a capitalist and Bernie doesn't, Bernie embraces a handful of radical planks that are really important to activists and people on the left that Warren doesn't embrace as much.

Castro, Harris and Booker are no longer in the race, though...some of the people supporting Biden, Bloomberg and Buttigieg right now might've supported them, then switched when they dropped out, so I don't think that's an entirely fair criticism.

Some might have, but most didn't, and we can tell this because Booker, Harris, and Castro all dropped out.

They dropped out because they ran out of money, though, which isn't a direct correlation to amount of supporters. (I personally haven't donated to my candidate because I just don't have any money to spare, and I know plenty of people in the same boat.)

There's not a one-to-one relationship between those things but the relationshio is very close. If they had polled higher, they'd have got more donors. And they didn't poll very high.
