Nine times out of ten no one will say anything if you're a different skintone then the character you're cosplaying as. We're thankfully at the age where that doesn't matter so much. And Truthfully, we're all people in costumes. As long as you work hard on the costume, you should have no worries at all. Focus on the characters you're dressing up as and have a good time. And if anyone says anything negative, ignore them. They're one of few, after all.
So go on be that character you've always admired. :3 Know that you're not alone. I too am black and have cosplayed many characters of diverse skintones, and I have a ball. don't worry about the ignorant and remember to have fun. <3
