I've been rewatching the last two seasons and thinking the same thing, haha.

The best bit, I think, is that Barack Obama was the inspiration behind Santos and Vinnick was kind of based on McCain. (The older, actual Maverick-y McCain, not the guy he became to try and win an election.)

101 - I can definitely understand why you'd feel that way. Hell, I feel that way sometimes cosplaying very Asian looking characters, and I'm light skinned. The cosplay world is full of harsh critics, but I would still say go for it! There a lots of people of color who cosplay, I am friends with a few of them. Try it once, see if you like it, and you might even make some new friends in the process!

I know how you feel. Thankfully, the only character I'd consider RP'ing is dark skinned enough for me to try it without looking foolish. But I do wish I could RP other characters without the fear of getting funny looks.

101-I hope one day people will get over this idea that people need to look exactly like the character anyway if they want to cosplay them. You should be able to play any character you want regardless of what you look like regularly!

I think it depends on how you look at the word. If you look at it in the completely "wow, she's a terrible, nasty hearted person" kind of way, then no, she's not, and I totally disagree with anyone who calls her that.

If you look at it in the "she can have a major attitude, but is really strong and does what she needs to do" kind of way (which is what I THINK the OP is doing) then I would say that definitely fits her.

I hope the latter is what the OP meant. Anyone who thinks Nami is the former probably hasn't read much One Piece!
