I agree so hard, you have no idea. Zuko fills me with so much joy and his character development was phenomenal. Everyone else is so flat and uninteresting compared to him. (Although I still have tons of love for Iroh and Sokka, of course.)

Why? I mean, specifically. I can understand being sick of P/E (or other Phoenix pairings, or the ship bitching that goes on sporadically). I can understand not really liking Hobo!Nick, or getting annoyed at people who think Hobo!Nick is the end of the world. I can understand thinking that the general fandom portrayal of Phoenix doesn't line up with your views. But, well, why hate him (assuming you liked him before)? I can understand getting annoyed with fandom's reaction to/portrayal of/bitching about him, but hey, Game!Phoenix isn't going to change.

And to some of the commenters... it is possible to enjoy the fandom without liking/especially caring about Phoenix. There's a huge pile of side characters to explore and enjoy, even if they don't get as much love as they should.

So I guess I'd just like some clarification, if the OP doesn't mind.

Hmmm...interesting.

You know, before I saw the original movie of Streetcar for the first time, I thought I really ought to hate Stanley. I mean...abusive, rapist, generally obnoxious, etc. But when I actually saw the film, I was shocked that I found myself sympathizing with him so often (aside from the fact that Marlon Brando was really HOT back then). He was played really down-to-earth, funny, vulnerable and charming in a flawed sort of way. Plus, I think that if I had to share a tiny, run-down apartment with someone like Blanche Dubois (drunk/obnoxious/mentally unstable drama queen) for four or five months, I'd snap too, one way or another (not via rape, but I'd probably violently kick her to the curb)...

Anyway, good luck with the relationship...but watch your back.

Loveless, while on the surface doing mindless catering, has been actually surprisingly... subtext-y about the actual relationship. Mostly because the character who most people automatically slap "seme" on because of his height is practically a submissive (As in D/s, as in BDSM), it does make the series more interesting. :) Just because a relationship is fanservacy doesn't mean it's not more than meets the eye.

101 - Cosplay is for fun. Black, White, plaid, etc--anyone with the urge and the motivation to do it should enjoy it. Though I totally get wanting to have friends to go with.

125 - I don't think you're doing the fangirl thing wrong--I always felt if you truly loved a character, you love them--flaws and all. No bullshit pretense of building them up to be something they're not. Of all the characters in Avatar, Zuko's definitely had the most development and was probably the most consistent--until about late S3, but then nobody was safe from that.
