101. This is why fandom deciding it's the Cosplay Police sucks so much. Ugh. D: Just dress up, and have a ton of fun! What's it matter to other people don't like it? It's just strangers who really have no business judging you and who you'll most likely never see again, anyway.

I can totally get behind finding friends to cosplay and have fun with you, though... it's just awesome. (:

106. ... Sally ♥♥♥♥♥ AS YOU CAN TELL, I THINK I CAN GET BEHIND THAT. 8D

107. Nami isn't a bitch and methinks you don't know what a bitch really is. ._. And I am certain you have already been yelled at over this.

108. That is win and I want that vest. *A*

112. I have no idea who that is and therefore no real opinion, but I have to admit that he is indeed cute as a button!

114. ... That really IS incredibly plausible, especially for a crossover ship. DAMN YOU, OP ♥

118. There's real argument over whether any kind of a Harley Quinn, even a dark version made to fit into the movies, would really work in this new series, but. I can say for sure that version of Harley Quinn? Hell no, unfortunately. I love that version of her too, but she just does not work for the new movies in the least.

122. YOUR NOTIONS INTRIGUE ME AND I WOULD LIKE TO SUBSCRIBE TO YOUR NEWSLETTER. K-Kuroki especially, oh wao, but a ship is fine too!

124. Um... you do know that a huge chunk of the plot of Loveless actually has to do with said "catering," right? That it's like a sizeable portion of the series? o_o Other than that, I can't think of any series that "caters" unless it's part of the plot or has an actually canon gay character, and neither of those are bad things.

128. If you're attracted to guys but find that you're attacted to girls too, you're bisexual. Not a lesbian. Just... thought that should be pointed out. o_o IF YOU'RE NOT REALLY ATTRACTED TO ANYONE EXCEPT, MORE AND MORE, GIRLS, THEN DISREGARD THAT I SUCK COCKS.

130. It sounds cute, and it's not like you're OMG DESTROYING THE SERIES or anything -- the series is still just the same. This is you having fun. I'd read it ♥

131. Then you're a liiiiittle too involved/obsessed with fandom.

132. NO! DON'T DO IT, MAN! That is an awesome Jesus, tho.

134. Obvious or heavy-handed subtext is still subtext until and unless they make it canon. Which I don't see happening. Sorry, but until one or both boys actually states or acts on the idea that they want into the other's pants, it ain't text yet.

135. ---that list looks like it could be entirely inaccurate, too. O_o Where do they even get those names as being possibilities, and what are the odds based on? John Barrowman?!

137. Dude. Preferences. Fuckin' preferences. Calm it down. :/

141. I DON'T LIKE IT SO YOU SHOULDN'T EITHEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEER

Yeah, this argument hasn't stopped being fail yet, and it won't any time soon. Get over it. Some people actually, yanno, have different tastes than you and think they're funny and don't see much arrogance in two guys expressing their opinions on video games (plus crack).

144. STEEEEEEEELLLLAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!

I'm so sorry, I could not resist. Bludgeon me if you must.

146. Seen it.

148. Isn't this a not-secret? :/

150. That's okay. If the argument that you're being an ass isn't enough to change your mind, then you might as well know that people probably don't want the respect of an ass anyway.

not!secret #1: Uh... yes? Yes, it really kinda is. Sheesh. Reasons that don't involve "OMG BLACK!!!11!1!" or GTFO.

I do know what it means, thank you. I wasn't using it in a pejorative way.

Ah, and I do thank you for clarifying! I should've read all the comments, but yeah, that makes sense now. I don't know if it's really possible to take back the word "bitch" and get rid of all the negative connotations, but good luck with it -- sounds like you're an awesome, strong-willed, take-no-crap girl and are glad to have such an awesome role model as Nami. And with that, I can agree with you. (:

You know, I was starting to despair from reading the comments so far. Why do everybody see this subtext as pandering? Do they really think that same-sex relationships can't be taken seriously?

I really have no idea. I mean, a LOT of the responses are like... condemning actual BL series for this, too, which is just... what? No, that's the plot guys. Just like the plot of a romantic shoujo series is gonna be the heterosexual relationships. I can totally get behind the people who're saying they like series without canon gay so that they can use their imaginations and ship, and tend not to actually like the canon gay -- I can testify that once any ship is made canon it looses a lot of interest for me (I still ship it, but other pairings intrigue me more).

But... yeah. The BL in Loveless is majorly part of the plot. And a series in which a guy has a crush on another guy/a girl has a crush on another girl shouldn't really be approached any different than a series where a girl has a crush on a guy (or vice versa). Why is that suddenly bad? D:

Yeah, I tend to lose interest in canon couples too, and canon BL is often just like shoujo, which I seldom like (I'm not much for pure romance series), so I completely understand the BL genre not being everybody's cup of tea. But the existence of it? Every instance of BL is pandering, now? I'm with you. What?

Loveless especially is very much not about pandering to anybody. I find it a deep and meaningful storyline, actually.

And a series in which a guy has a crush on another guy/a girl has a crush on another girl shouldn't really be approached any different than a series where a girl has a crush on a guy (or vice versa). Why is that suddenly bad? D:

EXACTLY.

Same -- I mean, I do love and ship canon couples, and I do like shoujo and pure romance series! That goes for pure romance of any gender, I'm a sucker for those kinds of things. But the pandering argument for every case of canon homosexuality or bisexuality is... extremely odd, wtf.

I want to read more of Loveless, actually. Not because of Soubi/Ritsuka -- though I love their issues and they make me sad and hope that they can be happy -- but... well, to be honest, mostly for the Zero boys and OMG CREEPY SEIMEI, really. XD But what hooked me about the first book was Ritsuka's issues. With his mother, and the fact that he's... not who he was. Not the same person. That he just feels like a stranger using "Ritsuka"s name and face. It totally fascinates me and I want to see where they go with that.

One of my favorite mangas dealing with that issue is Here is Greenwood. It's totally amazing all by itself, more people need to love it. |D It does have "fanservice" in that two of the guys have sparkled and acted all gay, though that was really only the once and it was literally done ONLY to freak out the MC. XD But the trap is a straight boy, the main character has issues with the fact that his older brother is the doctor at an all boys' school (WHICH AUTOMATICALLY MAKES HIM QUESTIONABLE WHY DOES HE HAVE TO SEEM LIKE A PERVERT ARGH) and married his (the MC's) "true love," and the one gay couple in the series is so understated and sweet. The mangaka actually ended up writing, by request, a couple of chapters explaining how the two of them got together, because apparently people loved them so much, despite them being minor characters. It's an awesome series ♥

(Also, I don't really know what's so bad about "pandering" in the first place, I guess. I mean, Princess Princess panders to all the people who like boys crossdressing, but that's... what it's about. Gundam series "pander" to all the people who like giant robots. It's what series do; it's called "knowing your target audience." \O_o/

Oh, Loveless is wonderful. I've read up to volume seven (which is all that's out as far as I know), and they're in the middle of a bunch of mysteries, and I just want to know! IIRC, Loveless is actually a shounen series, which is all sorts of awesome (they're not all published in Weekly Jump!).

I simply adore Ritsuka's and Soubis relationship, because it's unexpectedly sweet, and it's not about making fans happy, it's about them. I also really like when the creator puts this much work into building up a relationship; she really deals with all the problems.

And Oh, Seimei. Such a twisted, wonderful character; I can't say that I like him, but he's very interesting; he's the reason for a good part of the storyline, after all. And he only becomes creepier the more you find out!

I've heard about Here is Greenwood, but I haven't got around to reading it yet. It's on my list, but my friends keep finding other things I have to read, preferably right now, heh.

Also, I don't really know what's so bad about "pandering" in the first place, I guess.

It's the implications that the inclusion of certain elements automatically renders them worthless that drives me insane. That they're included not because of their value to the story, but for instant filthy fangirl satisfaction. I mean, really. It's as you said, Princess Princess is about boys cross-dressing - it's a big part of the plot! But some people will always insist that loving giant mecha is definitely more worthwhile than boys in dresses. Generally, I find they're both props in the effort to tell a story about human emotions.

One of my favorite mangas dealing with that issue is Here is Greenwood.

And by "that issue" I meant... I don't even know, seriously. I just mean they have a series that has an understated gay couple and it's cute. I didn't mean to accidentally connect it to Loveless, derp. XD
