I can not to this day understand how a country singer with the most generic ‘Eye luv muh truck’ voice like Billy Ray could produce two daughters who bot sound like lawn movers when they sing.

NAYRT - The opinion that Miley Cyrus has an unpleasantly abrasive voice is a popular one for sure. I can see why many people feel that way - it is quite harsh and nasal - though personally I think she makes it work for her. Then again, I like Rain Maida's voice from Our Lady Peace, so maybe I just enjoy harsh, nasal voices.

I don't find her voice harsh *or* particularly nasal, but whatever. I think someone saying she sounds like a 'lawnmower' is just really, really reaching.

You must have a really high threshold for perceiving those audible qualities then, because it's pretty pronounced. But I do agree that "lawnmower" is just unnecessarily hyperbolic and mean.

I really couldn't say. I figure she can sing well and hold a tone without any kind of electronic fudging, which is a lot more than some, so I'm good.

I quite like Miley Cyrus's voice, though the only song of hers I've liked is "Nothing Breaks Like a Heart".

AYRT - I like it to, I've just seen/heard a lot of different people say they find her voice unpleasant; it's not an uncommon opinion. And her voice is distinctly on the harsh/nasal end of the spectrum, to the degree that I've seen her cited by vocal coaches as a good example of that type of voice.

Personally, there aren't many voices I strongly dislike, and hers isn't one of them. I like how different vocalists sound, one from the next. I wouldn't listen to her if I had a hangover, though; her voice would be much too piercing for me in that state. :)
