Hell yeah! Not the only kind of voice I like but I do like it

I get this. Those types of female voices tend to speak to me a little more, on a personal level. I just feel them or relate to them more deeply, I think. (Which is funny because I'm quite "girly," externally, and also I sing better in a higher pitch myself.)

But there are also plenty of high, melodic female voices I love, too. In my case, I don't think my preference for one over the other is that marked.

I like...hrmmmm...not quite 'gravelly', but I like how Melissa Etheridge sounds, and Joan Jett, and Kim Carnes and Janis Joplin. And Joan Baez and Tracy Chapman and Sinead O'Connor....

I think the thing about the voices that bothers me the most is when they mumble and slur through words, get really breathy and high, or do lots and lots of unnecessary up-and-down-the-scale stuff. Not so much a voice as a style.

I can't sing, so most of the people who do it for a living sound great to me. Hell, I love how Alice Cooper sounds!
