I'm the person whose comment got made into Secret #1, but honestly, yeah, I'm tired of it, too. I like what I like and tune out stuff like box office numbers or even Rotten Tomatoes/critic aggregators.

(Tumblr's making me feel a little guilty for not wanting to support a female-driven, female-directed movie, though. My woke points will just have to take a hit this month.)

(AYRT - FWIW I didn't make this a reply to your secret because I didn't want it to seem like I was yelling at you, I think your secret was fine! it just made me think about it)

And yeah, I definitely agree

Same. I mean, sure, if I like a movie, or an actor I like is in it, or something like that, I'll hope it does well just 'cause I want things and people I like to do well in general, and all that good stuff.

But whether the movie's a success or not, yeah, it won't affect my love of it one bit.

i've never once paid attention to the whole rotten tomatoes thing and i never will. other people's opinions won't tell me if i will like a movie, so i'm not going to listen to a bunch of strangers online, who may or may not have petty axes to grind.

as to how much money movies make: meh. some of my favourite movies were not exactly box-office sell-outs, making bank doesn't automatically equate to good/fun story-telling and i care far more about that than how many seats they sold.
