In the finale of Justice League Unlimited, Amanda Waller revealed that Terry was...I am not making this up...born of Bruce's genetic material, collected from blood he left at various locations when he fought, and used to modify Warren McGinnis's genes (without his knowing!) so that he would father Bruce's bio-son.

She also planned to have the McGinnises murdered, but was talked out of it by the woman she hired to do the deed.

The parts of the episode that didn't have to do with Terry were actually really good, but that whole bit was...not.

...wow. I can see Waller getting bits of Bruce's genetic material to hold his secret ID over him but that's just dumb.

It did at least lead to a humourous exchange...

'Bruce's DNA was easy to obtain. He left it all over town. *Terry gives her an icked look* Not remotely what I meant.'

The initial anon who said that they didn't like the biological retcon:

Yeaaaaaahh. Agreed. I can only hope that if Batman Beyond gets brought back officially, that they drop the biological relationship aspect of it. If it starts to get acknowledged as canon from here on out, I think I could do without Batman Beyond as well, in a similar feeling to OP.

I actually really liked JLU, but they did The Wall a dirty.
