That's assuming that she can even get back here.

And calling her Chinese American makes it sound as if she was born here and simply went to China, when she actually only spent a few years in the US as a child and got her citizenship then.

My only stance is that it's hard to now the entire story because of how the Chinese government is.

She could really be an asshole who believes that the Hong Kong police were correct or she could have be threaten to support them. WE DON'T KNOW.

Nonetheless, she could easily go to America if she were afraid. She's literally working with Disney, one of the most powerful organizations in the world, and she's an American citizen.

I agree, the Chinese government is fucked up. I agree, it's possible she could have a gun to her head - and that it would certainly be hard for her to say anything anti-China. But I think it's way, WAY more likely that this is her honest opinion - which would be a pretty normal opinion to have in China, tbh. Don't cut her slack hoping for a conspiracy theory.

nayrt - I realize I’m just piling on speculation, but if she immigrated as a child, odds are pretty high she still has family in China - herself being an American citizen/Disney employee wouldn’t necessarily do them any favors. (Not that that precludes her from believing what she’s saying, of course.)
