I think I am the lone, sad Nelix fan. (He was a shitty boyfriend to Kes, but then being a shitty boyfriend doesn't stop other people being good characters, and I will always have a fondness for him)

Better Seven of Nine AND Nelix than Chakotay.

I liked Neelix too. I liked Seven. The only one I didn't like was Chakotay. Okay, Harry was boring, but at least he was nice as a punching bag. Chakotay was just useless and irritating.

Agreed 100%. The only way I can see Chakotay being useful is if Voyager somehow ended up in a crossover with Avatar: the Last Airbender and Koh the Face-Stealer was after them and Tuvok was out of commission for whatever reason. Chakotay would be the perfect choice to go up against Koh because if he just acted the way he always does, he'd be perfectly safe. And if, by some miracle, he did accidentally emote in front of Koh and get his face stolen, then eh, no big loss. Anyone want some cactus juice?

being a shitty boyfriend doesn't stop other people being good characters

Would that more of fandom realized this (along with the fact that being a shitty girlfriend doesn't stop some characters from also being shitty characters and isn't proof that she's a lesbian who's just being a shitty girlfriend because she doesn't really want to be with a man at all, poor thing!)
cakemage: (Seven has fainted.)

Agreed. Neelix annoys me sometimes, but I still have kind of a soft spot for him. And yes, he's definitely better than Chakotay, but then again, who isn't?

I'm also a Neelix fan! I liked how his character conveyed the art of cooking and I thought he was an excellent morale officer.
