Nobody was crying because Shiro didn't marry Keith. Nobody thought Sheith was going to be canon, except for maybe in the sense of them going off on an adventure together at the end as friends. What people were upset with was that he barely even interacted with Keith at all in the last season after he was revealed to be gay, and married a rando and it was made into a big production as part of the epilogue, because it's terrible writing and was a grab for ally points after the complaints about "bury your gays" with Shiro's ex.

On the contrary, I met many a person who was convinced Sheith was going to happen "if it weren't for executive meddling." Because some of the people from the show were supportive of Sheith on Twitter. There were absolutely shippers crying that Sheith didn't become canon, the same way they were obsessively dissecting Keith telling Shiro he loved him. The amount of "but in the Japanese translation they used X term!!!" was wild.

Yes, the ending of the show was shit, but the last several seasons were entirely shit overall. Shiro and Keith barely interacting wasn't any worse than Pidge and Hunk getting horrible mistreatment throughout the whole show. Honestly, Pidge getting barely any interaction with her family despite finding them being a big deal for so long was far worse.

Man, Justice for Hunk, honestly.

god this, he got such a bad hand and he was easily one of the best characters.

you must have missed all the conspiracies about how there was a 'real' season 8 where sheith was canon, how evil dreamworks quashed sheith from being canon(despite their being an m/m kiss at the end of the show? make it make sense), that the showrunners wanted to make sheith canon because they liked tweets about it(while ignoring that they'd liked tweets about EVERY ship, including klance during the show's run), ignoring that the showrunenrs literally said that many of the 'important' sheith 'parallels' were accidents and running with the idea that it was all deliberate calculated 'subtext'(despite all the het ships being so obvious and clunky there was no way in hell they were going for a stealth sheith endgame).

and when it didn't happen and shiro got married to a not-keith person: the absolute insane meltdowns(that are STILL going btw) where they were acting like the show had personally punched them in the face for not delivering what they were 'promised'.

ya'll lost your minds over a damn kids show.

But why is those two not interacting worse than all the other shit that show pulled? The constant side-lining of Hunk to food-jokes, Allura not getting a single goddamn break and then getting killed off for no good reason, Pidge not getting any time with her family after saving them, the fact that we barely knew a damn thing about Shiro at all because unless it related to Keith the show didn't fucking care about him.

And I'm gonna be real, Shiro and Keith didn't actually interact at all from the end of s2 until the very end of s6, because that was a clone, Shiro was dead inside black the entire time, so how is post s6 worse? It's the exact same shit, just without the Shiro-doll there to trick you into thinking they were spending any time together.
