The standard response to this is "get a Britpicker" but honestly I personally am mellowing out as I get older and if the overall quality of the fic is ok I'm not going to be bothered by an Americanism here and there.

Dialogue on the other hand is a different matter because in-show The Doctor definitely wouldn't say things like sidewalk, diaper, trunk (for boot) etc but again...if the overall story and quality of the fic is good I won't blow a gasket but may try to make polite comments about terms used if you ask for them in your summary.

Having said that the TARDIS translating languages to everyone in their head is a handy get out of jail free card!

Idk, when I used to write Batman fic I used to *try* use what people from the USA would say because it's based in the USA but...I am 100% sure I still fucked up from time to time.

Basically, it makes me sad you're frightened to post because of arseholes. The fact English isn't even your first language means people need to cut you some slack. Iirc a lot of the world experiences American English first now.
