Don't worry about it. People who care about that enough for it to make them annoyed/mad are being silly.

I wouldn't be annoyed or angry to find a fic set in the UK with British characters full of Americanisms, but I wouldn't read it, either. I figure that if the author doesn't care enough to do that much, they won't put a lot of effort into writing a good story, either. It's not personal. I just prefer fics written with a certain level of thought and planning invested by the author.

Note: This doesn't apply to the OP, who obviously does care.
