The show might be from the UK but The Doctor isn't British. So post those fics and let the haters go suck eggs.

That's a pretty fine distinction to make that's not entirely helpful in this context. Even if you can argue that the Doctor isn't British, in every incarnation he/she has sounded British both in their accent and speech patterns. So if someone wants to write the Doctor in character, they'll have to keep that in mind.
