I had this thought back with LotR and Gimli's instant massive admiration for Galadriel. He immediately thinks she's the most beautiful thing he's ever seen. Given that he later sails into the West with Legolas, it's possible that Gimli just likes elves, but given the way people react to Galadriel, part of me thinks that Tolkien himself thought that elven beauty just sort of ... overrides everyone's standards? That short of the Valar themselves, elves are just objectively the most beautiful beings to basically everyone.

Meanwhile elves falling in love with non-elves seems to universally weird people out, although to be fair there's also a mortality/respective lifespan issue there.

I could see Galadriel set apart from other elves as this out of the world beautiful being with a super-powerful aura and a killer smile to match. I'd totally worship at her feet.
