Re secret 5 - I know it's an open secret, but given that Laura Hale as well as Cassandra Claire's coterie harassed NN by publicly linking her professional identity and her fannish one, and NN has gone out of her way not to have them publicly linked - this is a shitty thing to do.

I really don't think this secret should have been posted.

Comment OP here and I wasn’t intending to start wank and had no idea Novik wanted to keep her fanwork separate from her pro stuff except insofar as any author doesn’t want to/legally can’t read fanworks inspired by her pro stuff.

OK, so it looks like I was going off historical information. I was there when LH and CC's lot harassed NN, and not knowing she's now linked them, it didn't sit right with me.

Comment but not secret OP here and I had no idea she was trying to keep them separate. I mean, I think I first saw the announcement that Uprooted was coming out posted on her tumblr. And I love her books and have never read her fic, I just vaguely knew Ao3 was her brainchild and she wrote Supernatural or Thorki fic or whatever.

You might be of the opinion that this secret is somehow insulting, but your hurt feelings do not mean that people aren't allowed to talk about it. This isn't TMZ, nobody is outing anyone, and bothering Case to try and remove a completely valid secret, just because you don't like it, is the only shitty thing that's happening here.

People might be saying that F!S has been a lot nicer lately, but it doesn't change the fact that this comm is still about secrets, and that will, on occasion, mean stepping on a few peoples toes.

The cat is well and truly out of the bag on this one. If she was doxxed way back when, that really sucks, and fuck the people who doxxed her. But the fact that she's Astolat is pretty much common knowledge in fandom at this point. Sure, some people still don't know, but a LOT of people do. And I'm willing to bet most aren't aware that the info was a result of doxxing. I certainly had never heard that before today.

For a while she was happy to link Astolat to NN but not NN to Astolat, but she's openly linked them both ways for ages now, including on her twitter.
