I like them too, and I know that frustration!

Same goes for fics where one character speaks another language and no translation is provided.

It disrupts the flow of the fic if I have to google while reading to understand what's happening.

I once read a flower AU where they only used the scientific names of the flowers. :/

Yeah, I've only read a small handful of them, but I can see why that'd get annoying. I've only found one Flowershop AU I actually like, mostly because they did give a lot of importance to the flowers and did enough research to know proper care techniques and what not.
Admittedly I would prefer the fics to be a little nuanced with flower meanings and how they fit in with the plot/romance, and not for them to give away every meaning and intention as soon as they're brought up, especially if the character who doesn't run the flowershop wouldn't know what they are.

Yes.

That goes for anything where the meaning of something (flowers, gemstones, tarot, crystals and minerals, astrology, symbols, etc.) is important to the characters/plot, but not actually stated in the fic. Looking it up can also be a problem because many have multiple meanings and so if you don't know which the writer intended, that can confusing.

I dislike it particularly when it sort of assumes everyone knows that a) there is a language of flowers and b)everybody seems to know them.
