ha, yeah i feel this OP, i love family dynamics a lot and like to read gen-fic about some of my fave family relationships, but man, wading through the surprise!incest because people apparently don't want to tag that shit is not fun.

imo sam+dean is one of the worst duos for that, i actually gave up trying to read gen bro-fic because nearly all of it turned out to be untagged ship-fic. :|

Sorry you're going through that OP. It's natural for fandom friends to drift apart, gradually or suddenly. Also it's normal to think, "What happened?" and try to salvage that friendship, if possible.

Have you tried to reach out to them? If so, but they haven't responded back to you, it's okay to move on.

Back when I was on tumblr, there was a Teen Wolf account that tagged every gifset, pic, like EVERYTHING with Stiles and the sheriff as incest so it was being muted for me and I asked why, I mean, if it's literally just a gifset of a scene from an episode and they were like, well, most people see them as a couple so it's just in case. And I thought they were being ridiculous because... wtf. But then I went on ao3 once to read some family fic and went into the TW tag and.. yep, they were right. :///

That isn't true at all? There are only 300 fics tagged Stiles/Sheriff out of 100,000+. The main family tag for them (Stilinski Family Feels) has over 1700 fics.

Yeah, I get this. I've honestly given up on trying to find purely platonic relationships in fics completely at this point.
Between bad tagging and unfortunate interpretation when it comes to character studies, I honestly have such a low tolerance that I can't last for more than a handful of fics before I nope out of all of them...

Part of me seriously hates that a moderate portion of the 'in between platonic feeling' fics have gone the way of being shippy for no other reason than that it is the most popular interpretation. I just want to shake a few authors and tell them to write what they want to write goddamit!

I tag my gen fics with characters I ship with a pairing and "pre-slash" because I think that my shipping comes through.
