Hi, please to be out of my head!

I'm 80% sure that Joe has been playing John as gay since the pilot. 95% sure after seeing "Outcast". I just don't think he's told the writers and producers.

In 5 years, it's going to come up in some interview - "John Sheppard was ALWAYS queer" and the fandom is just going to explode!

They're becoming much more open now that the series is over (not that Joe wasn't always very honest about some of his clashes with the producers;) You never know, it's not unlikely that Joe will admit some day.

And yeah, I know, slash goggles, especially since I was dragged into the fandom for the slash fic, but this is the only show, ever, where I step back and think "Wow, what if we're actually right about this?"

A lot of it is a trick of that amazing chemistry Joe and David have, but there's something more there, too. Something in that shadowy, barely fleshed-out backstory of John's, in that collapsed marriage, in the way his brother seemed to assume that Ronon was John's boyfriend, in that oblivious but panicked look John gets when the pretty alien princesses try to seduce him. I can't help but feel that there's a very conscious set of decisions that are being made in this characterization.

See, before Outcast I could go "okay, maybe it's just awkwardness on John's part" and when I heard about the ex-wife episode that was coming up I was fearful, but in the failed attempt to assure us that John was heterosexual (maybe), the writers pretty cemented the fact that he's not.

Dave thinking that Ronon was the boyfriend? People who are not into slash, people who aren't regular viewers, watch that scene and immediately go "he thinks his brother's bringing his boyfriend to the funeral!" It's not just us!

Also, I was very intrigued by the way Sci-Fi cut the promo for that ep. In the promo, it's showing John telling Nancy "you were the best thing that ever happened to me." The actual line in the episode is "My father thought you were the best thing that ever happened to me." That's a big difference. And I'm sure his father did believe Nancy was the best thing that ever happened to John because maybe his son wasn't gay. Oh, wait, fooled you.
