121. I really wasn't that interested. But trying to get into a fandom where the concept was that every single guy was gay and paired with each other and the women were just annoying props, plus the fact that in early high school, all anyone around me seemed to care about was slash for the sake of hawtness...yeah, it was a real turn off. It took me awhile to understand that all slash was not always shallow.

I don't care about slash. I care about characters. If it seems like a character has genuine chemistry with another, then I don't care what gender they are. I tend to prefer het ships, but I have a few of each kind.

But as to letting other people's interest turn you off of something...have you not been in fandom that long? Any time there's something that the masses gather around shouting how wonderful it is, there's always another group of people telling them to shut the heck up and let them suss it out for themselves.
